A few months ago, I was overwhelmed with frustration, and under-whelmed with ideas.  I had been working hard to find a new way to add some spice and excitement to my life, but every thing I tried seemed to be fraught with obstacles.  Nothing seemed easy or right.

This happens to me more often than I want to admit.  When the Universe, God, Spirit, just keeps sending hurdle after hurdle and it feels like I can’t get anywhere, no matter how hard I try.  At times like this, I just want to say “I get it. Alright already, would you just show me the door?!”

My Mom says from her perspective, it is like watching me hit my head against a brick wall, over and over again.  And from what she sees, if I just stopped, pulled back and took a look around, I would see my way around.  And she’s right.  If I just stop, the answer to moving forward reveals itself and is easier and a whole lot more fun.

So why do we continually hit our head against the brick wall?

We ignore our intuition.  That internal guidance system that helps us steer our lives.

Intuition is God’s (The Universe, Spirit, insert your term here) way of steering us toward our goal, and moving us out of harms way.  It is a way of getting our attention.  And when we ignore intuition for logic, or the image we have already set our mind on, we steer ourselves away from the goal.  We often get so caught up in our vision, that instead of listening we move ahead.

If we won’t listen to intuition, how will the Universe get our attention?  If you were the Universe, what would you do?  I bet you would start coming up with creative ways to stop yourself.

Obstacles are just that…the bigger, more creative ways The Universe uses to get our attention.  And the less we listen, the bigger the obstacles get.

So…the next time you seem to be getting no where with your plan, STOP.  Stop and listen.  The Universe just may be trying to tell you something.  And I bet, if you take a look around, you will find an easier answer than you ever dreamed.
