Freedom. Freedom to me is the ability and willingness to be who you are... fully. To let it all hang out and allow the creative juices to flow freely with out questioning them. Creativity is a life force that resides in each and every one of us. It is a matter of picking up that brush, guitar, pen, camera, hammer... etc... and going for it. Self expression is one of the most important aspects of living a creative and joyful life. Thank you for the opportunity to share with you a part of me on these canvases.

I love to create abstract art using acrylic paint as my medium. Generally, I don't like to have a plan of action, I just go with it and watch the paintings create themselves. I know it sounds cliché to say, 'they paint themselves'... but I have to admit they sort of do:) I have been painting on and off for about 10 years now. I am pretty much self taught. I took one painting class in college.. but I found it hard to have to stick to a certain technique. I prefer to not have any rules. I also found it difficult to be graded on art. Art is such a personal thing and everyone has there own taste, so I feel more free (again that word free) to just create.

For me, it is important to listen to music while I paint. I usually listen to the insanely inspiring Richie Havens.. (sang “Freedom” at Woodstock). I also listen to Tori Amos, Tracy Chapman, Perfect Circle, Ray LaMontagne, Damien Rice, etc. I feel it is important to mention the musical artists that I listen to because they play a big part in the painting process. Other things I enjoy doing are making jewelry and reading as much as possible.
