Reaching out to those we seldom have
contact with, expressing our love in bigger, grander ways than we do
any other time of year and pushing ourselves to the limit has become
the theme of the holiday. This season makes us dig deep, give more and
run, run, run.
As
we roll into the new year, it is a time for many of us to reflect on
the year past, to re-organize our priorities and plan to make
changes in our lives to align ourselves with our dreams and goals.
I'd like to invite all of our readers to begin this year thinking
about what makes them feel good on every level and create ways to
allow those "good vibrations" to flow in their lives every
day. Finding what brings us joy and creating ways to incorporate it
into your every day life is good for us on every level. When
something makes your heart smile, it brings a healing energy through
your system that creates well-being across the board. Try this
little exercise....
First, take a quick scan of your body, noticing where you feel
tense. Take note of where your physical, emotional, mental or life
stress building. Pay attention in detail to how you feel on every
level. Give your overall well-being level a score from 1-10.
Now,
imagine that you have a jackpot-winning Powerball ticket in your
hands. Allow yourself to feel that unlimited wealth is in the palm
of your hand and that you are able to spend the rest of your life
doing exactly as you please. Soak it in. Let every part of your
being absorb that sensation. Feels pretty good, doesn't it? Now pay
attention to your legs, your arms or your back. Do they feel more
relaxed? Give your overall wellbeing another score. Did your numbers
improve? They should. That is what happens when you add joy to your
system. Your overall wellness improves.
It
only takes a few moments to incorporate things that make you happy
into your daily life. Call a friend who makes you smile. Really look
into the eyes of a child. Laugh from the heart. Just stop holding
back and let yourself go. Let yourself experience life with as much
enthusiasm as you can muster.
